Why would people want to come to America?
The United States was hit with a huge mass of immigrants during the Colonial Era, from the 1880's up until 1920. Immigrants came to America to free themselves from what they were experiencing in their home countries whether it be jobs, living, or religion. Immigrants felt that moving themselves and their families to America would help them seek greater economic opportunity, where as in the 1600's, Pilgrims came in search of religious freedoms. African American immigrants came to America against their will in the 17th century up until the 19th century. Slavery was the reason why African's were brought to America, so that farm owners had people to work on their needs. Immigrants still come to America today to look for a better life.
